Shipment packing is essential to minimize freight costs and keep goods in good shape.
Today we will dive into efficient packing as a key to reduce freight charges.

Efficient packing will reduce the CW (chargeable weight) / CBM (Cubic Meter) and make shipping more cost-effective and safe.
But first, let us make sure we all understand the idea before start packing.
Dimensional weight, also known as volumetric weight, is a pricing technique for commercial freight transport, which uses an estimated weight calculated from the length, width, and height of a package.
By charging only by weight, lightweight, low-density packages become unprofitable for freight carriers due to the amount of space they take up in the truck/aircraft/ship in proportion to their actual weight. The concept of dimensional weight has been adopted by the transportation industry worldwide as a uniform means of establishing a minimum charge for the cubic space a package occupies.
Now that we know what we can achieve let us learn how to do that correctly!!
- Pack & seal in boxes that fit your goods & design for international transportation
- Labeling according to goods nature (for example: fragile, DG, side up, non-stackable, etc..
- Visible & clear details such as:
- Shipper
- Consignee
- POL/POD
- Freight forwarder name & address
- Numbering each box
- Place and palletize boxes on the chosen pallet size to take advantage of the maximum area of the pallet (palletizing might increase the volume)
And remember to use only plastic or fumigated wood pallets that are international fit for export.
